Fresh snow across the US and Canada, plus a last call to get your Ikon Pass by 11 December.

East Coast Continues to Lead Early December Snowfall

Early December continues to favor East Coast mountains: Killington, Loon Mountain, and Sugarloaf are skiing on fresh machine-groomed and packed powder, with around 8–12 inches of new snow over the past week  and settled bases up to 2 feet, keeping trail counts climbing as cold air hangs on.

This matches the broader pattern so far this season, with deeper bases in the East and a much more hesitant start for many western US resorts.

Canadian Rockies Deliver the Best Snow in North America

North of the border, skiers are getting some of the best early turns on the continent: , Banff, Sunshine and Lake Louise are reporting some of the deepest cover in Canada, with mid-mountain bases in the 2–3-foot range and fresh top-ups in recent days. Meanwhile Revelstoke and Panorama are already offering upper-mountain depths close to 4 feet and another 4–8 inches of snow in the short-term forecast.

Western Canada is now the clear bright spot for new storm snow in North America, as many western favorites still wait on their first truly big dumps to kick the season into gear.

Alps and Japan Enjoy Strong Early-Season Momentum

Across destinations in Europe and Japan, the story is generally more upbeat: the Alps have enjoyed a notably strong early start, with repeated storms giving high, snow-sure areas like Zermatt, Cervinia, and Val Gardena excellent upper-slope cover for December, even as lower runs continue to build.

In Japan, early-season snow has been mixed farther south, but Niseko United and Furano are already sitting on upper bases around four feet wit or more with regular top-ups, in line with outlooks calling for a colder, snowier-than-average start to winter in northern Honshu and Hokkaido.
